Our proposal for YAYB aims to provide a holistic, aspirational environment for learning and personal growth, and to do this in a more open, more transparent space that better connects the organization to the neighborhood.

Youth Action YouthBuild is an organization to provides a foundational pathway to encourage youth to contribute to the community. YAYB fosters a strong ability to become responsible members of society. However, We listened to their desires for spatial enhancement and stronger connections to the present YAYB's space.

However, fosters a strong ability to become responsible members of society. We listened to their desires for spatial enhancement and stronger connections to the present YAYB space. Thanks to their input, we can organize what students and instructors require for the new YAYB. We view this project as resolving a challenge and integrating as a Holistic educational area.

The site is located on East 118th Street in East Harlem. It is the initial extraction, and YAYB aim to spread the optimism by starting with one location. East Harlem has a high percentage of youth disconnectedness, which indicates Disconnected youth are people aged 16 to 24 who are not enrolled in school or employed. This sparks the notion of implementing a new holistic education curriculum for present students and young adults who wish to participate in future YAYB.

We approach programs that rely on a Holistic approach. Currently, YAYB has beautiful different programs in their space. Emphasis on Personal Growth and Well-being and Experiential and Immersive Learning is what YAYB teaches. Integration of Body, Mind, and Spirit is what we focus on for the new program. For example, Student Library/Self Study Space, Collaborative Environment- Student shared Lounging/Pantry Student Outdoor Sports, Co-curricular Recording/Podcast Space.

YAYB’s identity can spread out through not only word of mouth but also communicable facades that are naturally lighted, transparent, and adaptive for enhancing engagement. Our proposal for YAYB aims to provide a holistic, aspirational environment for learning and personal growth, and to do this in a more open, more transparent space that better connects the organization to the neighborhood. Our idea aims to allow visitors to look down into the space from street level while passing by increasing educational space and bringing more brilliant light in deeper, students, faculty, and visitors will have a more inviting and pleasant experience from the transparent facade.
